Slough PFI Schools

Arbour Vale is part of the Slough PFI Project that comprise the complete replacement of the 900 place Beechwood Secondary School on its current site, the replacement and relocation of the Arbour Vale Special Needs School onto the Beechwood School site and the replacement of William Penn Primary School (now Penn Wood) on its current site.

These schools have a combined construction value of £40 million.

At Arbour Vale the new accommodation has been purpose designed to meet the special needs of the pupils with a fully inclusive environment and a comprehensive range of specialist facilities such as a hydrotherapy pool, splash pool, dependent and independent toilets adjacent each classroom, soundfield system within each classroom, and hoist provision in classrooms and toilets. The innovative layout of the building allows the two schools to operate independently of one another or to integrate their activities, providing both schools with choice on the degree of integration they consider appropriate for the needs of their pupils.
