It was in the air, and it has finally become a reality: now comes the surprise! The new Dodo flagship store in Corso Matteotti 9, Milan, designed as usual by the famous architect Paola Navone, is on three floors and has all the brand’s favourite themes and colours – yet nothing is the way you expect it to be.
Right from the entrance, just above the window displays, your eyes are drawn to the windows completely filled with the green of gigantic grass blades in silicone. You just have to enter and discover the rest. On the ground floor, an imposing lamp-sculpture in bronze, the work of a young artist, is set against a wall crammed with red and pink flowers.
Throughout the store, metal mosaic floors, walls with a finish reminiscent of wet sand, showcases in crude iron. The lower floor is the realm of hearts, as suggested by the pink neon lights of the very romantic ‘100% amore’ Dodo line.
Walls covered with maxi polka dots, and an array of red pouffes around the sales table in neo-primitive solid wood. On the first floor, a large bean-shaped wooden table is surrounded by orange and violet pouffes and, as a backdrop, a wall covered with fluo green grass in silicone. In front of it, a sumptuous alcove padded with bright red capitonné leather, with a bench and sturdy bistro-style tables. Here, people sit and relax, pondering which Dodo to buy.
