“Donna Vitina” – a culinary lounge on the Mediterranean shore.
Located in the wonderful setting of Lungomare Federico II di Gela, a sicilian city located on the southern shore, famous for his beach that inspired some of the most important italian poets, like Salvatore Quasimodo, “Donna vitina - Cucina Mediterranea” is an elegant restyling project by Puccio Collodoro Architetti.
The space is characterized by a regular floor plan and two big windows watching the beautiful sea of Gela, inspired the young architects that designed a space where elegance and traditions come together in a clever and original way and where the mediterranean cuisine can express at its best.
Grandmother “Vitina”, this was the name of the woman that inspired the clients, that faced an important business challenge, with the goal of creating a place where feeling at home was the number one priority; a culinary lounge where you can feel as one of the family while tasting the flavors of the mediterranean.
The search for details and the clever use of different material, create a comfortable and elegant atmosphere, where the main protagonist is the kitchen, characterized by a skin made with golden finished metal sheets and glass, that wants to be an exaltation of the beating heart of the restaurant.
The whole room is characterized by an elegant composition of tables and chairs, having as background a big display wall made in oak and travertine, ending with a screen module placed perpendicular at the wall; on the top of the room there is a sinuous and suggestive system of golden finished metal nets, that is used to hide the facilities located above them, and wants to be a reference to the nets that sicilianfishermans use.
On the exterior the restaurant is characterized by a big porch, where the black painted metal finishes , used for the system of screens and vases and for the false ceiling made with micro - perforated metal sheets, enhance the conception of the interiors.
