A uniform and restrained architectural language, limited to a few readable themes, supports the spatial and functional intentions. The clearly structured construction as well as the use of sustainable building materials enables a cost-effective construction and operation of the building. The building is divided into a head building on Lindhooper Strasse and an adjoining, bluntly folding hall building. The intersection of the two buildings is articulated as an architectural joint and opens the building functionally and visually more strongly to the street.
The head building ensures the urban integration into the peripheral development of the Lindhooper Strasse through its cubature, storey and materiality. It accommodates the building line and forms the official entrance area. Here, the operational preparation, the stand-by room and other rooms not directly required for the internal rescue procedures of the fire brigade, such as teaching and meeting rooms, kitchen, administration, are accommodated, the latter partly also on the two upper floors. The hall construction is aligned with the southwest boundary of the property. It divides the outdoor area into a western approach area for the members of the fire brigade and an eastern approach area for the emergency vehicles.
