Current science presents itself in contemporary design in the historical "Kaisersaal". Stones are flying through the air, a volcano erupts and the visitors experience, what makes the earth move. The hall also serves as a meeting and resting point, the strict furnishing of the entire floor gives way to a more open and free arrangement. The building, completed in 1889 by architects Semper and Hasenauer, was the first evolutionary museum in Europe and, together with the “Kaiserforum”, was conceived as a “Gesamtkunstwerk”.
