Town House in Linz

The Stadthaus is located in the central street Lederergasse - a livable, quiet street that connects Linz's main square, via the tobacco factory, with the port. The existing building – its basic substance from the 16th century – has been renovated and expanded. Over a process lasting several years, first the premises on the ground floor were converted into the company's own architect's office, then the apartments on the 1st and 2nd floor were cleared out and renovated down to their constructive structures. In the last two years, the inventory has been supplemented with an addition. Kurt Hörbst In order to enable a gentle renovation of the existing building without major interventions, the position of a new connection,... Mehr

Sugar Factory

The point of departure for the revitalisation of the former sugar refinery was the distinct industrial heritage of the site, its conditions and relationship to the surroundings as well as immediate needs of the local community. Through high-quality placemaking, gradual phasing and introducing public content and greenery to the site, the concept creates an attractive destination for the public with a wide range of services for the community that is both just and economically feasible. The two-stage competition was organised by the Slapanice council, seeking to revitalise a former sugar factory area, transforming it into a new social and cultural centre for the locals. Context and industrial heritageSlapanice is a town located a few kilomet... Mehr

Urban revitalization of the Gredelj Zone

The abandoned industrial zone in the center of the city of Zagreb has occupied for decades the spaces that now give us the opportunity for the first systematic town planning after a long time.  The zone extends between Branimirova and Vukovarska streets and the railway and bus station. This area of 45 hectares is one of the most important spatial potentials of the City of Zagreb, only a 15-minute walk from the centre. For comparison, this area is twice the size of the Old City of Dubrovnik. The reconstruction of the Gredelj zone is an opportunity to solve one of the biggest urban problems in Zagreb, which is the disconnection between the north and the south. Because of the railway tracks these two parts of the city are connected at o... Mehr

Bogdan Kulczyński, from Kulczyński Architekt Workshop, was responsible for the revitalisation of the tenement house. History of the tenement house goes as far as the beginning of the 20th century when count Ksawery Branicki, owner of properties adjacent to Branicki Palace (at Nowy Świat 18/20 Street), decided to divide them into six parcels an... SCHEDLBERG Contemplation house

D... Mehr

Cacc

NOMO Studio´s proposal for transforming an abandoned heating plant in Sofia, Bulgaria into a new Centre for Contemporary Art and Culture aims to preserve the architecture characteristics of the old building and enhance its qualities in order to fulfil its new purpose. A new performing skin, which will allow for all types of events, is added. Thus, the new culture centre will be able to host events which require black – out darkness and strict acoustic insulation or complete openness where indoor and outdoor merge into a large urban plaza. The space is a blank wall, inviting “pop-up” events and improvised creativity.A light-arrow-shaped-structure hovers over the entrance plaza as a graffiti in the air functioning as a billboard visible from... Equinox, the bridge

In the heart of the Beatrixkwartier, The Hague’s central business district, you will find The Bridge: a unique place perched above one of the Netherlands’ busiest motorways. Property developer Cromwell asked DZAP to upgrade the routing and entrance area to make the building more attractive to the current and future tenants. Moving the lift core on the ground floor was a major intervention that created a big, unified space for an inviting reception area, a function that had previously been “hidden away” on the first floor.   Mehr
