In the buliding of Bank DSK – which was originally designed and built as a bank house at the turn of the century – our assignment was to locate the offices of the senior management, the related offices of the operational management, and the ground floor offices of the private bank with the related negotiation rooms. As the bank is a protected historic building, most of its interior spaces were to be preserved and reconstructed. We had to create exclusive reception and working areas, which were able to accomodate and serve modern work practices, while preserving the traditional elements of the building. Besides the reception hall, the offices of the private bank with the related negotiation rooms and the foyer of the office building were located on the ground floor. The offices of the senior management and the related offices of the operational management were located on the upper floors. On the fourth floor, which is an attic, we created a multifunctional area capable of hosting VIP receptions and negotiations, to which an exclusive terrace is connected offering a great view to Sofia. During the transformation of the building, we had to take into consideration the requirements of the historic preservation authorities, according to which the corridor spaces, especially the ground floor reception hall were not to be divided, and the ceiling of the reception hall was to be reconstructed. Taking into consideration the above limitations, we decided to use glass walls to separate the area of the private bank, preserving the space as one visual unit, while separating the required spaces. On the upper floors we created spaces partly preserving, partly rebuilding them, using modern furniture and building accessories.
