“Infonavit” Park

Recently, public space has regained its value, and we have become aware of the importance of an equitable and dignified common space where society can see itself reflected and share its experiences. As a result, the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development (SEDATU) has focused on the rehabilitation and activation of public territory in Mexico in recent years. As part of this program, we were invited to design a series of spaces in the state of Nayarit.

The premise for the development of these projects was the observation of the spaces in order to create a structure that would stand out for its simplicity and straightforwardness, while also being flexible to meet the needs of users in the three different spaces.

The starting point of this project was the site analysis. Upon arriving at this site, we encountered an elevated water tank that we decided to incorporate into the design of a modular pavilion based on the repetition of a rigid concrete frame. The arrangement of these elements allowed for the creation of a delimited yet open space, where residents can find shade and a resting area surrounded by vegetation.

This project is based on the modulation of elements to create a rhythm that is reflected over time as one traverses the pavilion. Creating a playful space was another objective, so the integration of children's playgrounds and a court were essential to encourage the community to take ownership of this place and dignify it with pride.
