Natural Hills is a terrace House located in the mountains of Magallanes, San Ramón, Costa Rica, where glass and wooden walls fold away to reveal breath-taking views out to the sea on one side and the jungle on the other side.Our objective as designers is to create connections between people and the natural environment We listen deeply to the information we have so that we can develop a really good project for the client, coming up with a clear example of the harmonious integration of architecture and nature, envisioned by Vince Studio architects. 

This home is designed to progressively highlight the wondrous ecological and topographical surroundings.  Sustainability is core to every aspect of the home’s design. The roof functions as a large rainwater collection system and sun rays filter through the roof canopy, casting a soft, dappled light over the spaces below. A variety of passive bioclimatic principles ensure comfort throughout the home. Large overhangs protect against the hottest times of the day, and non-enclosed circulation and large openings mean less of the home needs conditioning. High windows within the rooms provide cross-ventilation and natural lightning. Materials were selected to blend with the surroundings. 

The final result was a unique living space that provided comfort, privacy, and immersion in nature, with architectural details that were thoughtfully crafted to enhance the overall aesthetic. The metal frames around the house allow for a very fast and precise construction, while the timber offers warm, natural tones that celebrate the material’s imperfections.  We create bioclimatic strategies for residential constructions, strategies that consider social, economic and ecological viability.
