A curving facade of interlocking checkerboard panels, in blackened textured metal, enables the apartments to have more sunlight and softens the street edge. The building designed by BIG houses a nursing school on street level and comes with attractive amenities on the roof.

The party roof is decked out with whirlpool spas, a swimming pool and an elongated roof deck with a variety of seating areas. The entrances are colorfully tiled with colored concrete and refers to murals you can find in the neighborhood.

The building facilities include a fitness center, media room, relaxation spas, social lounges, and workspace which overlooks a skylight-lit three-storey gallery. The gallery space emphasises the mix of the existing exposed brick with the new steel structure.

The T-shaped volume offers a diverse set of unit sizes and layout organizations. Apartments overlook on one side the East Harlem towards Central Park, and on the other The Harlem River and the Bronx. One-third of the apartments are affordable units.

BIG opted for raw materials in the interiors like wood, exposed concrete and exposed steel trusses. Spaces with public program combine the exterior and interior design language of metal and colored tiles.
