Base Street Trio

Base Street Trio is a three-apartment row house situated in Tammisalo neighborhood of eastern Helsinki, Finland. Tammisalo is an old residential area with mostly single family homes and row houses built after 1950’s, but the history goes beyond that as the area was a part of 19th century mansion grounds. Being an island Tammisalo is surrounded by water and small forests. Nature is present everywhere as characteristic old and tall pine trees grow on many yards of many homes.   As the city grows and needs more space for it’s recidents, properties in the loosely built residential areas are being coped with denser land to building ratio which allowed building three apartments to a small lot instead of two. Vista

Finnish House

The Finnish House Anna Carin Design in collaboration with Jake Dowse Architects, created a modern, warm, functional home for a family of 5 and 2 pugs. Our client required a better use of space to accommodate their family, lifestyle and workspace. The architect effectively maximized the use of space whilst being sensitive to the height restrictions and streetscape with a Seven-Day Adventist Church adjacent to the site. With the addition of an awning roof and terrace the attic space became a light-filled home office for our lawyer client. The existing garage was relocated from the lower level of the house to the rear of the property. This enabled the lower floor of the house to become a generous, open area for the kitchen and livin... Notski - Heinola Upper-Secondary School

Notski is the winning competition entry for a 4660m2 upper-secondary school in Heinola by Lahdelma & Mahlamäki Architects. Aside from its core focus of learning the school also is to become a social hub for the community – housing civic activities, youth culture and community sports. Flexible learning and activity spaces pivot outwards from a core social space that links all the programmes together. The classrooms themselves, designed with pedagogic experts, are optimised to cater for the different learning situations that the students would find themselves in throughout their school career. Notski sits in the heart of Heinola, a secluded Finnish town of around 20,000 inhabitants, surrounded by a patchwork of islands, lakes and forests... En savoir plus
