DEMOGO studio di architettura

DEMOGO was founded in 2007 by Simone Gobbo, Alberto Mottola and Davide De Marchi.

 

The practice immediately focuses his work on the theme of the complex relationship between contemporaneity and spatial articulation, characterized by an authorial approach linked to perceptual relationships within significant habitats. The studio in its research feeds a strong propensity towards the evocative dimension of places, defines a changing register of adaptations and interpretations of sites through the work of architecture.

                                               

In 2009 DEMOGO won the Europan10 international competition for the new Gembloux Town Hall in Belgium, completed in 2015 and awarded with the IQU Award for Innovation and Urban Quality.

 

In 2010 the studio was invited by Europan Europe to the international forum in Neuchâtel in Switzerland, where he presented his projects within the cycle of conferences and debates "Inventing urbanity". Obtaining the second prize in the under35 YIA “Young Italian Architects” selection and participated in the following travelling exhibition, and was also a guest of the international exhibition “Backstage architecture” on the occasion of the Venice Biennale “People meet in architecture”.

 

In 2012 DEMOGO was invited to the international forum “European urbanity” in Vienna to present the process of urban implementation and transformation of the new Town Hall under construction in Gembloux. In the same year, the competition project for Malga Fosse in Passo Rolle won the second prize, directing the practice to a new research territory, developing a new tension towards the perception of natural habitats and the relationship with architecture. The new research area led to the awards for the projects of the Health Service Center and the Landscape Museum in Trentino. Furthermore, on the occasion of the “Common Ground” Venice Biennale, DEMOGO participates in the “Occupy Biennale” exhibition with a collection of strategies and projects on the reuse of the city.

 

In 2013 the studio received the mention for the conversion project of the Winckler area in Marly in Switzerland and extends its research on the transformation of large areas and infrastructures in Europe, which leads to the first prize in the restyling competition of the large FoxTown shopping centre. in Mendrisio.

 

In 2015 DEMOGO won the competition for the reconstruction of the Bivouac Fanton on the Forcella Marmarole (2.667msl) in the Dolomites, the work has been completed in 2020 and published in the main international architecture magazines with a photographic narration by Iwan Baan.

 

In 2015, the National Council of Architects awarded DEMOGO the "Young Talent of Italian Architecture" award, a recognition that testifies the value of the architectural research developed by the studio.

 

In 2016 DEMOGO was runner-up for the YAP 2016 "Young Architects Program" competition, an initiative promoted by MAXXI Architettura in partnership with the MoMA / MoMA PS1 of New York, the cultural association CONSTRUCTO of Santiago de Chile, the Istanbul Modern museum and the MMCA in Seoul. In the same year, the studio has been invited as Visiting Professor for the W.A.Ve. 2016 at the University of Architecture of Venice, IUAV.

In 2017 the practice is awarded with the “Dedalo Minosse” award, the best Under 40 work by Italian designers and won mention at the XV edition of the City of Oderzo architecture award in the category: Venetian architects in the world.

 

In 2018 the studio was selected among the 40 emerging European studios for the 40under40 award.

 

In the same year, the Bivouac Fanton project has been selected for the "Arcipelago Italia" curatorial program exhibited at the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale in the Italian Pavilion. Also in 2018 DEMOGO won the GOLD MEDAL for ITALIAN ARCHITECTURE TYOUNG with the project for the Bivouac Fanton, on display at the Milan Triennale.

 

In 2020 DEMOGO won, in association with the AMAA studio and Angelo Renna (landscape), the design competition for the New Flaminio Civic Center in Rome. In 2021 the practice won the competition for the new Gibus Headquarters " Sun Factory", currently under development. In the same year, DEMOGO won the competition for the construction of the new Palace of Justice in Trani.

 

The studio constantly feeds an intense research activity and is Visiting Professor at the IUAV of Venice, the Polytechnic University of Genoa, and the University of Architecture of Ferrara. 

 

DEMOGO is invited to publish their projects in numerous Italian and international magazines: L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui, Domus, Area, Abitare, Modulo, L’Arca, A10. B1 Magazine, A +, Mark, Damdi. The studio is constantly involved in reflection and research activities on the themes of the project and is invited to lecture at the main European cultural institutions. The studio was invited to exhibit by the MAXXI Museum in Rome in 2019, where the studio designed the site-specific pavilion: Shelter for a Project conceived for the "AT Home" exhibition, in a duet between the Fanton Bivouac and Casa Malaparte. Later that year, the Fanton Bivouac project became part of the permanent collection of the MAXXI Museum.
