Archetto 21

A project by Arch. Davide Andracco. Located in one of the most charming locations of the Italian Riviera, this mini atelier combines contemporary design with the traditional and natural elements of the building, while seeking a relationship with the Mediterranean landscape.

This renovation comes after decades of neglect and thank to the dedication of an artist and climber who imagined it as his atelier. This semi-underground building was only a ruin in a frame of traditional fishermen houses.

The challenge was not only to overcome the structural and damp issues, but also to integrate the project with an overwhelming landscape and the historical context. Filled with natural light, the atelier opens on a vernacular piazza and overlooks the Mediterranean Sea.

The project enhances the privileged location with a large, fully opening window, in an attempt to merge the landscape and the working space. In addition, the choice of Blue Klein colour for the furniture is an out-of-cliché reference to the Mediterranean Sea. The bespoke lacquered wood cube incorporates a small bathroom covered in blue mosaic, a kitchenette, and a bookcase; the upper part hosts a king-size bed.

The furniture design includes the large square table and the corten steel screen that manages the natural light.
