A tribute to the essence of the Costa Smeralda

"Architecture is inhabited while art is looked at; this is a fundamental diference. Architecture is a physical and sensory experience because you go into it." Ettore Sottsass

What is the Costa Smeralda, what is its essence?
That is the first question we asked ourselves.

If we think of this part of Sardinia, we think of the presence of granite rocks shaped by the wind. The sinuous materiality of granite is warmed by sunlight and the rifessi of the crystal clear sea and dialogues with the greens of the Mediterranean scrub.

The power of the wind erodes and digs the granite conformations making them become architectures to be inhabited.

The restyling project of the Myrto restaurant is an opportunity to pay tribute to this territory and to tell it. Architecture becomes a tool for storytelling and dissemination.

The internal space takes on the features of a cave with sinuous shapes and the colors of the Sardinian land that make the atmosphere domestic and matically and bring to mind an archaic idea of Mediterraneanity. The outdoor patio also turns into an interior, an underwater cave with a light roof that reacts to the wind and sunlight and lets you glimpse the sky. In these abstract and sinuous spaces, colorful furnishings and volumes play contrast and give life to a palette of greens that incorporates the colors of vegatation. The materials, colors and furnishings have been chosen and designed specifically for this project, creating a site-specifc concept.

Myrto has been present for 9 years at the Promenade du Port, a hub of art, culture and design in the splendid setting of Porto Cervo that brings an innovative approach and original, surprising and intimately connected experiences to the sense of place. At the same time, Myrto's approach is equally innovative with a concept in which gourmet pizza and haute cuisine dialogue in a synergistic, intriguing and unique way.
