MoVe Architects’ OXIA WorkHub Coworking Offices in Sofia innovatively blends private offices, flexible workspaces, and vibrant social areas, creating a cohesive and adaptable environment for diverse professional communities.
Designed by MoVe Architects in collaboration with Planing Architecture Studio for Bernard Investment Group, OXIA is a 4,000-square-meter workplace destination in Sofia that brings together private offices, coworking environments, social spaces, and hospitality-inspired amenities within a unified architectural experience.
Developed over nearly two years, the project was conceived as more than a traditional office building. The ambition was to create a flexible workplace ecosystem capable of supporting a diverse professional community while responding to the evolving ways people work, collaborate, and connect.
A defining aspect of the project was the close integration between design and construction. The interior environments were developed in parallel with the building’s execution, requiring continuous coordination between architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and the investor team. This collaborative process allowed the design to evolve alongside the construction, ensuring seamless integration between architecture, technical requirements, and user experience.
Unlike conventional single-tenant office developments, OXIA accommodates a variety of workplace models within one building. Several floors are occupied by individual companies, while others operate as flexible coworking environments managed by Work Hub. The design approach therefore needed to support different organizational cultures, team structures, and operational requirements while maintaining a consistent identity throughout the development.
The workplace experience is organized around choice and flexibility. Users can move between open workspaces, meeting rooms, focus areas, informal lounges, collaboration zones, and social spaces depending on the nature of their work. The reception and café on the ground floor serve as an active hub for tenants and visitors, creating opportunities for both formal and spontaneous interaction.
Materiality played an important role in shaping the atmosphere of the interiors. A carefully curated palette of natural textures, warm finishes, and refined detailing creates an environment that feels professional yet welcoming. Custom-designed furniture is combined with products from leading manufacturers to achieve a balance between functionality, durability, and visual consistency.
Particular attention was given to comfort and wellbeing. Acoustic treatments, sound-absorbing materials, integrated planting, and carefully considered lighting strategies contribute to an environment that supports concentration, collaboration, and everyday user comfort.
Throughout the building, a cohesive design language connects the various floors and workplace settings. Inspired by contemporary workplace and hospitality environments, the interiors balance efficiency with warmth, creating spaces that encourage productivity while fostering a sense of community.
The completed project reflects the changing nature of the modern workplace, bringing together architecture, interior design, and multidisciplinary coordination to create an adaptable and engaging environment for a diverse range of users.
