Slave Lake Government Centre & Library

Slave Lake Government Centre & Library

This community hub and government centre was designed to be a one-stop, service-oriented landmark for the citizens of the Slave Lake region. The combined public space contains Slave Lake’s town hall, library, and provincial government offices.

The centrally-located facility serves as a permanent anchor for the town, revitalizing the downtown area while enhancing the presence of provincial government services.

During the design process, a broad range of participants collaborated with us in a design workshop, and helped to conceptualize a functional, accessible, convenient and healthy facility, adaptable to changing workplace needs. Sustainability was a key consideration, and the project was built to achieve a LEED® Silver minimum certification.

A devastating fire ravaged Slave Lake in May of 2011. The Government Centre & Library was largely destroyed in the blaze. The Manasc Isaac team traveled to Slave Lake as soon as safely possible after the fire, and began to plan the rebuilding of this facility.
