We were charged with the design of a multifamily house on a smaller vacant plot in a semi-open development. The biggest challenge here lay in the shape of the plot: very narrow in front and widening towards the back. In addition, it also had to connect seamlessly to the adjacent blind façade of the house Ypsilon Business Photography Ypsilon Business Photography In order to make the different building levels visible in a quest for recognisability and a captivating volumetry, incisions were made, as it were, where limited overhangs provide the shadow effect desired. 99 COMMONS is a reinvented workshop tower in Tuen Mun designed to revitalize the aging industrial town by gathering a community of young entrepreneurs and creatives. We distilled elements from the surrounding nature, such as the iconic Castle Peak, the blue sky, the tree branches, and the Light Rail, to inform the design and crafts of the façade and lobby interior. The new ‘Mercantec - Midtbyens Gymnasium’, a business and technical college, emphasizes the city's ambitious visions for urban development. Here, 1,200 students and 130 employees unfold and thrive in innovative and inspiring settings that support learning, development and social life within the building and the surrounding urban environment.  The project completes the overall urban development project that Cubo Arkitekter has been part of, which also includes a 2 bridges along The Ancient Road ‘Hærvejsbroen’.
