Located in the city of Belo Horizonte (capital of the state of Minas Gerais - Brazil), Campana Apartment is a peaceful hideaway for its French owner, who deeply admires the Brazilian modern lifestyle. The main requirement for the place’s renewal was to create a “Brazilian-zen” space where he could listen to music, spend time with friends, and showcase his extensive collection of books and records. Task accepted, services contracted, the client heads to Paris while the work begins.
The first step was to decide on the materials. To redefine the apartment’s main areas layout (living room, intimate lounge, dining room, and office), a Brazilian wood named angelim pedra was chosen. Its installation, made with wooden planks riveted like boats, houses the owner’s library of books and records within shelves and panels. This composition also serves as “frames” for the impressive art pieces the client possessed, such as the Zig Zag Folding Screen, the Red Armchair, and the Favela Chair (central pieces of the spaces), created by the renowned Brazilian designers named Campana Brothers.
The remaining chosen furniture were exclusively sourced from Brazilian designers (with the exception of Phillippe Starck's tables and chairs, which the client already owned). Thus, the dining/living room features the iconic Oscar Niemeyer table surrounded by Sergio Rodrigues dining chairs.

The Ivar Siewers table (made from recyclable wood) and Freusa Zechmeister's lamp also add to the stunning collection. Both pieces have been awarded by the "Museu da Casa Brasileira" (Brazilian House Museum) in São Paulo. The tree sculptures, found at the end of the hallway and on the Siewers table, belong to the artist José Bento and are made from remnants of noble Brazilian woods in extinction. Artworks by Siron Franco hang in front of the Red Armchair(Campana Brothers) and the dining table. When the client returned to Belo Horizonte, he was enchanted with the renovation!
