DOM Z HERBEM

BIEN STUDIO 建築家 として

Bulwar Staromiejski (Old Town Boulevard) is a recreated part of Wrocław old city centre. The regenerated residential and retail development is placed by the River Odra, with a river view. It is a historical building that used to be the city hospital, which was built at the beginning of the 20th century.

One of the apartments designed in this development is 4.6 metres high. The interior design comprised the rearrangement of rooms and adding a mezzanine. The mezzanine is situated above the corridor, kitchen, bathroom, and part of the living room, and its structure is supported solely on load-bearing walls. Thanks to this solution extra 23 sq. metres of fully usable floor space was acquired.

The mezzanine is a place to work and chill with a river view. Further inside it there is a laundry and a drying room. It can be accessed via a minimalist self-supporting staircase above the kitchen table. Below the mezzanine there is an open space with a kitchen and a living room. High-quality materials have been applied in the apartment, such as wool, linen, and wood, e.g. slightly modified elm and oak. The colours are subdued and include natural wood, light grey, different shades of ginger, with some navy blue and off-white accents. Beautiful light grey linen curtains in the historical soaring windows provide the interior with extra warmth.

Furniture fronts along the kitchen and the bedroom corridor are a fusion of modified elm wood and smooth laminated slabs. The fronts’ division is an extension of the table top line. This horizontal line is common for the whole furniture set. The interior unobtrusively reflects the Japandi style. Its definite highlight is the Imperial Gray marble with a white base and a well-defined pattern of grey and golden veins. Only high-quality products have been applied in this design, and every detail has been carefully selected. Floor-standing furniture consists of Scandinavian and Spanish design classics.
