At the end of 2018, we were hired by the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein to develop the project for the Central Atrium of the Morumbi Unit, which would receive a new glass roof. As soon as we started to conceptualize the project and imagine the possibilities of using the space, we were sure that we should rescue the elements of the city in the open air and bring them into the hospital. It was an incredible opportunity to transform this, the heart of the complex, into an iconic space that would spatially convey transparency, humanization of spaces, experience and user satisfaction, key principles to the institution.

So we thought, "Why don't we make a square?" A wooded meeting place, with comfortable armchairs where people could gather, chat or simply relax, read books and magazines that we would make available. Then Praça Einstein [Einstein Square] was born. And, just as in the best squares, the trees are the leading figure, wherein the living areas and flows differentiated by the design of the floors were stablished.

Another element of strong definition of the project is the luminaires-large sculptures of light by Ingo Maurer. With their design, size and quality of lighting, they highlight the breadth of the space and enhance the design of the roof.Another element of utmost importance is the random slatted wooden panels that surround the entire perimeter and that were thus designed as a strategy to improve the acoustics of the environment. Trees also contribute to this process, providing shade and bringing comfort to users. The Brunella and Viena Kosher catering services with their respective service areas were located in annexes to the central space, so the square would remain intact with its primary function of meetings and relaxation.

We see this project as the synthesis of our understanding of a successful experience, comfort and well-being in a hospital environment.
