STANDING GARDEN

A standing garden has been realized in the Spoorhoek district in Arnhem. This is a standing straight green garden, based on sedum and grasses where you can add a wide spectrum of plants and shrubs. Basic baskets, filled with lava, are piled up to great heights. An integrated irrigation system provides basic water needs. Rainwater can be buffered. Depending on the circumstances, an independent unit can be placed in front of a building or units can be hanged against the wall. The wall in the Spoorhoek district was placed in 2 days. The baskets were planted on site of the gardener in advance.

Green walls should be accessible for normal residential buildings or utilitarian work. In order to these projects, a basic module is developed; the ‘green brick’. Employable as a sheet of a cavity wall both as siding in the hall construction. The module is customizable for each project, in dimensions as well as in shape. This depends on the desired image or architecture of the building.

STANDING GARDEN is an idea of NEXIT architects and Poelmans Reesink landscaping.
