Visitors to the Design Post during the imm cologne 2018 will once again be convinced by the fact that the chairs of the Close family are not only comfortable, but also attractive. With Close Lounge and the Close Chair without armrests, the Dutch furniture manufacturer presents two more designs by the Icelandic designer Gudmundur Ludvik. As with the already established Close Chair and the Close Bench introduced in 2017, the seat and backrest of these new chairs are designed as two individual shapes. This underlines the geometric character of the design, which is characterised by a harmonious coexistence of hard and soft lines.
Close Lounge is the most comfortable furniture in the Close family: the rounded backrest, which also functions as an armrest, measures a width of 71.5 cm. This creates a generous refuge for which Ludvik was inspired by a small, cosy bay. The slightly sloping seat allows a relaxed posture. Like the chair and bench, the armchair is also softly padded and organically shaped on the inside, which moulds to the body. This forms a delicate contrast to the smooth contour of the overall piece of furniture.
With its narrow backrest the new chair appears slim and elegant. As there are no armrests, this model is particularly suitable for the dining table - whether in a private kitchen or in a restaurant.
All products in the Close collection are of the highest quality whilst also being great value for money. The seat and backrest are available with different fabric and leather covers. Two-tone versions are also possible. The Close Lounge is available with a U-shape frame from beech laminate with a top layer of oak and a four-legged frame made of aluminium. An optional epoxy fine texture or epoxy lacquer coating in various colours from the Arco collection is also available.
The Close chair without arm rests is available with the same frames as the in 2016 introduced Close chair: U-shape frame from beech laminate with a top layer of oak, a four-legged frame on feet made of aluminium, a four-legged frame on castors made of aluminium and a five-leg frame on castors made of aluminium. All the aluminium frames can be coated with an epoxy fine texture or epoxy lacquer.
