Modus has chosen to use ColorCore® for its striking collection of bistro, meeting, coffee and occasional tables – Gecko. Black, White and Spectrum Red from the Formica® Colors range have been used to great effect for this range of table tops. A fine example of the multi-disciplinary talents of Scandinavian design partnership Claesson Koivisto Rune (CKR), Gecko’s ColorCore tops are available as softened squares and rectangles or circular shapes, while the laser cut steel foot spreads out to look like the footpad of a gecko – hence the name. The foot is adjustable with serrated edges providing grip as well as a strong visual detail. ColorCore lends itself well to edging, allowing the creation of monolithic effects or contrasting features to add depth. Providing another dimension in decorative surfacing, this solid depth of colour offers designers creative opportunities beyond traditional laminates, as well as being very durable. In combination with Gecko’s stylish base, which is laser cut from steel and available in a range of powder coated finishes or chrome, the Formica® laminate provides a crisp, clean and fresh finish to the furniture, which is also very practical. “
Our products have an inherent longevity in their design and usability,” says Jon Powell, managing director at Modus, “and the designs are selected with the environment in mind. Our aim is always to reduce waste first, re-use second and recycle third.” With its inherent strength and durability, ColorCore® is ideal for hard-wearing and high traffic environments where there is a possibility of scratching and impact damage. Maintaining its appearance, it minimizes costs of repair and replacement, and is easy to clean. Modus is one of the UK’s premier furniture suppliers. Combined with an impressive roster of designers, the company has evolved using a wide base of materials and processes, establishing a network of specialist manufacturers allied to unrivalled production know how.
