Viracon Insulating Laminated Glass combines the solar and thermal performance of an insulating glass unit with the safety, security, and acoustic properties of laminated glass. The laminated component may be positioned on the interior, exterior, or both sides of the insulating unit and is designed to remain integral within the opening if damage occurs. The configuration can incorporate Low-E coatings, argon fill, warm-edge spacers, coloured interlayers, printing, and heat-treated glass to meet a range of architectural and performance requirements.
Reduced U-values and controlled solar heat gain can limit winter heat loss and summer heat gain, helping to reduce operational energy demand while maintaining occupant comfort. The laminated interlayer improves acoustic performance and blocks approximately 99 percent of ultraviolet light, helping to protect occupants and interior materials. Its ability to remain in place following breakage also contributes to safety, resilience, and the continued performance of the building envelope.
