There always is more than one book on my nightstand, so there 's never space on it; the Iris is my attempt to solve this problem. It is a bookcase that can be transformed into a reading lamp, a merge of two peaces of furniture which are used when reading a book, and especially when reading a book in bed.
When the the bookcase is transformed to a lamp the light goes on automatically, this way the lamp tells you to use it as a lamp and read. And the same happens the other way around, so by transforming the object it tells you how to use it.
