"The lamp is a decorative object for interior design, therefore the purpose of illumination is not its principal scope, but rather its ability to add distinction to the surrounding area” - Elisa Giovannoni -
When tackling a project for Slamp, it is the material which commands the highest challenge of the planning. In particular Lentiflex®, crafted for this project, produces refractions of light that have effects that range, according to the different orientations of the sheet, from kaleidoscopic to liquid, resembling the refractions of a crystal. The iconic heritage of this lamp is to be discovered in the crystal table lamp, interpreted in a modern fashion, the cap and the body are made of the same material, compacting the form, and with the soft fittings of the base acquires a pop value. In my opinion, the illumination has two unusual effects, the refraction of the cap material produces a vertical orientation of the light source, which brings to mind a candle flame, meanwhile inside the base, used as a diffuser, the LEDs magically radiate light also within the stem, augmenting the expressive characteristics of the object.
At Euroluce, Slamp will present the new floor and suspended versions, generated by the analysis of historic and iconic precedents ranging from lamps in pleated fabric to adjustable reading lamps. The collection will be presented in a worldwide exclusive preview at Euroluce. (14th to 19th April 2015) at Rho Fiera, Hall 9 - Stand B15 C16.
