The Incastri collection is the result of a collaboration with Kengo Kuma, an internationally renowned architect known for his design philosophy that unites nature, craftsmanship, and innovation. Conceived as a pure expression of the dialo-gue between Japanese aesthetics and contemporary design, the collection is perfectly aligned with Gessi’s philosophy.
Inspired by traditional Japanese construction techniques, Incastri reinterprets in a contemporary key three essential concepts from Japanese culture: Chidori, a modular joinery system using interlocking wooden elements without nails or screws; Chozu, the purification ritual involving water; and Yakisugi, an ancient wood-charring method that increases durability and water resistance. These elements are translated into essential forms, tactile textures, and architectural surfaces that fuse tradition, technology, and visual poetry.
The collection explores the emotional potential of natural materials and artisanal processes. Surfaces become part of a play of solids and voids, light and shadow, transforming everyday gestures into sensory experiences. Geometries are reduced to their essence, with tubular elements intersecting in a visually and functionally balanced system. The design, with a strong architectural character, is meant to engage harmoniously with its surroundings, giving each space a refined and minimalist identity.
Available in countertop, wall-mounted, ceiling-mounted, and floor-standing versions, the collection offers mixers in two variants: a traditional one and a suspended solution with a striking visual impact, where light proportions meet technical innovation. Vertical textures enrich the body and operating levers, creating plays of light and tactile depth while highlighting the contrast between smooth and engraved surfaces.
The washbasins reinterpret the Yakisugi technique through innovative materials, resulting in a three-dimensional surface with a strong sculptural presence. The result is an object of intense yet discreet character, where water appears as a still volume, an expression of calm and regeneration.
