The Nest Dining Table is a new product from award winning design firm ‘MacMaster’. The intricate table design, which is an extension of designer Limahl Asmall’s original Nest Coffee Table, wascommissioned in the summer of 2009 for launch during the Autumnal London Design week. Jointly launched at Decorex and 100% Design, the table attracted interest across the exhibitions for its clever use of solid timber ‘sticks’ to produce an intricate and engaging form.
It appears that the design firm, which consists of old friends Alex MacMaster and Limahl Asmall, is not content with half measures. Go to their website and you will see a small but expanding collection of well thought out designs that fuse functionality and flair. Their design principles are nicely summarised on their homepage and equally expressed through their thoughtful exhibiting style.
The Nest Dining Table was exhibited in such a way that the captivating series of pendant lights suspended above the table allowed light to graduate through the ‘nest’ structure and cast subtle shadows onto the surrounding surfaces. It is this depth of design and attention to detail that is winning over design commissions from private and commercial clients. The Nest Dining Table is handmade to order in MacMaster’s London workshop. It can comfortably accommodate 6 guests and the client may specify the timber.
