Designed in 2019, "Obelisk" will be included in Ini Archibong's upcoming first solo gallery exhibition at Friedman Benda, Ini Archibong: Hierophany, opening October 7, 2021. Further establishing his personal design vocabulary, this exhibition represents a continuation from Archibong’s groundbreaking Theoracle, commissioned by the Dallas Museum of Art and High Museum in Atlanta and made its debut in Speechless: different by design in 2019. Pushing the boundaries of what his chosen material can accomplish, his process can be characterized by a strong dedication to craftsmanship and to the integrity of his chosen materials such as hand blown glass, obsidian, marble.
