OLA, an indisputable contemporary cult that has been around for twenty years, will be presented in its renewed form, the outcome of an ambitious Snaidero project to give it fresh appeal and a more contemporary elegant look while reintroducing the genuine nature and originality of the company’s great historical classic. It is a truly important challenge for Snaidero to pursue its philosophy of enhancing design history and culture, concentrating on a renewed combination of tradition and invention. Rather than simply restyling a historical legendary design, Snaidero reintroduces the values that the company has created and which are part of its legacy: the best of the past for a successful present while looking to the future. Produced since 1990, Ola marks the beginning of the partnership between Snaidero and the Pininfarina Group. Ola springs from an idea for a kitchen design that moves away from standardized visual appeal to find a new solution with essential kitchen functions. The result is a kitchen with a HIGHLY ATTRACTIVE DESIGN, which successfully provides all home functions with next generation technological solutions. In fact, this kitchen won a DESIGN AWARD FROM THE CHICAGO ATHENEUM of architecture in 1996. Ola 20 has been awarded again with the Good Design in 2012 that further confirms the company’s strategy based on continuous investment in research, innovation and top-design to create unique products. In 2000, the Pininfarina studio restyled it, keeping the technical content of the kitchen design and introducing new handles, new colours, a new worktop in steel and new wall units, while maintaining its curved look, the distinguishing feature that has made Ola an icon of Snaidero design worldwide. Exactly 20 years after it was first presented, Snaidero has decided to invest again in the ambitious alchemy of tradition and invention, combining the unmistakable features of a traditional classic with extremely contemporary elements. The Pininfarina studio has welcomed this challenge. The result is OLA 20, a refined and elegant kitchen design with accurate and up-to-date features. The original idea has been developed, inspired by the best of the past for a successful present. Without doubt, the CURVED LINE is the main detail that gives OLA 20 its distinct Snaidero look. The EXTRACTOR HOOD, 120 or 180 cm wide, keeps its original dome shape with a softer design but great aesthetic appeal. This solution conceals important technological content sandwich panel made of thermoplastic (ABS) and low-density polyurethane, providing a light yet resistant and solid material, with a special mechanism which, with a slight pressure on the door, ensures easy opening and closing with an electric Servo Drive device. The hood wall unit is also available with simple lift-up opening. Gentle shapes are the main key features of this kitchen design: all the END ELEMENTS of cupboards, base units and wall units are curved, embellishing this kitchen design. A balance of taste, style and functions is highlighted with refined aesthetic choices, abounding in all-embracing softness: the integrated HANDLE on doors adds to the minimalist appeal of the kitchen design. An aluminium profile extends along the entire door, providing simple elegance a clearly ergonomic solution ensuring that the door can be gripped at any point. The unmistakable touch of Pininfarina has further highlighted the gentle shape of this restyled kitchen design introducing a new element: a WORKTOP SUPPORT for island units and peninsula bar units with a sculpted design. This refined element is available in multi-layered wood (light or dark) and in the innovative carbon finish and is shaped into a design that is unmistakably by Pininfarina Just as up-to-date and highly distinctive is the way the KITCHEN DESIGN EXTENDS to the ISLAND UNIT and PENINSULA UNIT. Here the worktop appears to almost gently envelop the kitchen work area, thanks to in-depth research into shape, function and ergonomics, where the design truly focuses on the quality of work in the kitchen. A characteristic feature of this latest kitchen design is also a new EXTRACTOR HOOD IN THE CENTRE OF THE ROOM (measuring 150 cm) with tangential extraction and designed by Pininfarina. It has a gloss lacquered sheet metal support with fluorescent strip lighting running along the entire outer edge of the base unit. As regards the lighting system, Ola20 adopted a solution based on low-energy-consumption leds, that are built-in the hanging elements – inside and below – and inside bases and cupboards, with an excellent result in terms of homogeneous light shade and colour. In the OLA 20 kitchen, shape and function are inextricably linked to the TECHNOLOGICAL aspect, which, once again, is expressed via researched materials and highly innovative production processes. With its restyled look in 2000, Pininfarina had introduced METALLIC LACQUERING technology to this kitchen design. 10 years on, this in reintroduced with new technology, yet again inspired by the car industry: MICA LACQUERING. This lacquering process uses powdered mica, which, breaking into small flakes and being highly reflective, provides reflections similar to those produced with metallic lacquer, but much brighter and more refined. Above all, using special micas, it provides iridescent reflections with a colour that changes according to the light and the viewing perspective. An innovative solution that reinforces the finishing offer that counts also MATT METALLIC LACQUERING available in a renewed colour range. From both an aesthetic and design point of view, the OLA 20 kitchen design follows in the footsteps of Orange, as it is so up-to-date. It is a result of the company’s ongoing interest in PURSUING NEW SOLUTIONS, quality processes, materials and details. These provide aesthetic appeal and innovative features for an experience, where DESIGN is expressed through a KITCHEN WITH TOP-DESIGN AND INDUSTRIAL QUALITY, which is also ACCESSIBLE. The OLA 20 kitchen is a highly refined industrial design solution, where the true value and quality of the kitchen design lead to accessible experiences, once again, making it up-to-date. TECHNICAL DATA The EXTRACTOR HOOD, 120 or 180 cm wide, keeps its original dome shape with a softer design but great aesthetic appeal. HANDLE integration on the door reinforces the project’s essential aesthetic. This is an aluminium section in titanium finish that goes across the whole door, an aspect that, as well as giving a considerable aesthetic sobriety, is also synonymous with a clear ergonomic advantage, ensuring the door’s grip in any point. The ISLAND AND PENINSULA SUPPORT comes with a sculptural design featuring a refined element developed by craftsmen in stratified and shaped wood or in the innovative carbon finish, with a design that is Pininfarina’s unique feature. All of Ola 20’s TERMINAL ELEMENTS, be they bases, wall units or cupboards, enclose practical storage compartments, that can be easily accessed. Moreover, if necessary, the development in height of wall units and cupboards can reach the ceiling. In order to ensure top space organisation, Ola 20 foresees two ranges of interiors which to choose between: NATURAL and ELEGANCE. The former presents drawers and baskets equipped with steel sides covered with white-shaded varnishes, as well as a bottom in light ash finish. The second features drawers and baskets with stainless steel sides, equipped with bottom in dark ash finish. Both solutions can be fully extracted to offer top comfort
