Political Artifacts

Political Artifacts Exhibition comprises of Two furniture collections, Cheap Ass Elites and Pipe Dynasty. Cheap Ass Elites is a critique on what is considered 'high' and 'low' in both sociological aspects and design through furniture forms. Whereas, Pipe Dynasty is a consummate defiant act against ingrained convention, while contemporaneously throwing a proverbial punch at class-strata and turning our nose up at absolute, and senseless, conservatism. By giving a new interpretation to an inconspicuously common piece of furniture which is universally found in most Asian’s household; the bamboo chair, the collection revamp the common with the uncommon. Recreating its look with run-of-the mill water and steel pipes and old pieces of woods gives a new outlook and encourage a new outtake on its ‘classic’ precursor.
