When we started up our company it was this item help us create a design furniture collection. It was succesuful right away. André Zingg writes about his design as follows:
The main focus of my design work for the POOL was reduction to the essential elements of a product: the best use of materials, metal as a material with high stability and the possibility of fragile appearance. The first pool racks were manufactured in galvanized steel - with raw charisma, the look of popular industrial shelving. Then during the development process it became apparent that a shiny chrome plated version could present more value and could fit better into modern and timeless residential and office spaces. In my research for a shelf, the optimal proportions were the main goal to achieve: What gaps between the shelves are useful, how wide should be a tray so that it is stable, useful and yet elegant, as are the objects stored well protected, supported and functional aesthetically as it presents? The construction without rear vertical support but leaning on the wall creates a static excellent solution. Such a small, elegant high ideal form would be very unstable with four legs and would need to be braced diagonally, which would destroy the clarity and elegance of the design with cross braces. The more weight loaded onto the shelf pool, the more it presses against the wall and the more stable it becomes.
