“A life full of treasures needs precious spaces to display them”
Nicolette de Waart’s modular metal sheets bookcase units pulled into a-symmetry by its angular side, which creates a kaleidoscopic effect of angles for storage, display and memories of your life. The units – against the wall, wall-mounted or in room divider form – can stack up or across, in symmetrical rank, or asymmetrical patterns.
London-based Nicolette says: “Bookcases have evolved from simply housing books, becoming also a reflection of who people are, and the special things they have in their lives. I wanted to combine the function of storing books with the idea of a cabinet of curiosities. The shape allows people to mix and match the unit of display, putting their own creativity into the process.”
After intensive prototyping and researching the numerous options “I am really pleased with the contrasts in this product, which is handmade in cooperation with highly qualified craftsmen. The very functional shape is elegant and simple, and also surprises with its individuality, its angled side. I used very fine, semi-matt, powder-coated sheet metal to create a delicate, high-quality finish, contrasting with its durable, industrial origin.”
