INSPIRATION: TRIO was designed as a solution to a client's limited space problem; the client wanted a complementary seating option to sit at least 4 people, yet she was in need to relax after a long and tiring day on a chez-lounge-like seat, So for the limited space available, I had to think of a structure that has both functions, and ended up offering her a piece that seats 5 people, with 2 manual reclining body positions. Trio Bench is linked to an emotional memory of solving puzzles when we were kids, and the simple interaction between the user and the piece to find more ways of comfort and new ways of using the same piece creates an emotional attachment to it.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: TRIO Bench is a multi-functional upholstered bench that seats 4 people. However, in few seconds, the user/client can manually interact with the piece, and turn this bench into a recliner/chez lounge with 2 new positions. Trio Bench is made of walnut wood, upholstered Fabric, and leather. It comes with a foldable headrest option. We have ensured space utilisation as well.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: There is a user interaction with the piece. The user manually replaces two triangularly-shapped upholstered pieces- part of the whole structure- whereby one is hidden in its place under the bench, and the other is replaced as a continuation to original structure, and the headset is unrolled, as a result of these three steps; a chez lounge/recliner that offers 2 new body postures is born. The piece is able to put a surprise look at every user's face.
