This 26 m2 studio in rue du Cherche-midi (Paris) had a high ceiling and a view on a pretty courtyard. However, the long shaped plan gave the impression of a long corridor difficult to arrange. Located on the second floor of an 18th century building, the apartment did not have a lot of right angles and was crossed by four chimney flues. Project : The specifications were simple: to renovate this apartment dedicated to renting by creating spaces and incorporating a large number of storage. The wall with four flues was worked in the thickness with a custom-made furniture along the entire length of the apartment. Hiding the ducts, this piece of furniture makes it possible to sequence the space with a kitchen separated from the main room, an integrated headboard, fully enclosed storage units and open shelves. The rest of the room can be converted to suit the future tenant. Materials et details : In order to give an impression of space and not to change the nature of the floor between the kitchen and the main room, parquet flooring protected with a colorless resin from Kerakoll Design House was chosen. Light colour shades in off-whites and beiges were chosen for the painting, the credence of the kitchen. Only small black handles accentuate the whole.
