The design concept of the building for the Association of the North-West German Textile and Clothing Industry aims to give all employees a view of the picturesque landscape to the north and to welcome visitors arriving from the south with a strong textile image.
The elongated structure is surrounded on three sides by a completely closed brick facade. The volume, closed to the east, south and west and open to the north, is the basis for an energetically optimized office building.
The inspiration for the brick facade is the alabaster folds of the Beethoven statue by Max Klinger, which is in the Leipzig Picture Museum. Max Klinger created a paradoxical perception here. The viewer sees a seemingly flowing, light cloth over Beethoven's knees and at the same time realizes that it is made of solid stone.
Following this picture, behet bondzio lin architects use six special stones with a gradient-like increasing stroke that create a facade that appears to be in motion from light and shadow. The analogy to a light cloth, over which the wind blows, arises.
The separation and slight relocation of the building volume creates a front area that receives users and visitors and guides them into the building. To the north it opens almost completely via a glass facade to the exceptionally beautiful landscape. Due to the north orientation, all rooms are well supplied with daylight and do not need sun protection. This allows employees to have an all-day view of the countryside even in midsummer.
