Almost Forgotten does not seek to preserve memory, but rather to interrogate its gradual erosion. Through anatomical drawings that carefully dissect absence and sculptures that effectively arrest time, the project transforms fleeting, ephemeral fragments into profoundly inhabitable space. It exists within the fragile, indeterminate seam where art and architecture become entirely indistinguishable: it presents form devoid of traditional program, yet it carries the weight of deep emotion and recollection.
Guided closely by phenomenology, the work proposes that memory is never merely an image, but instead a complex spatial condition physically stored within the body and raw materials. It acts as “architecture before walls and art after purpose.” Ultimately, this project serves as a quiet act of resistance, granting tangible, physical form to that which is already rapidly vanishing.
The process began intimately with found objects—weathered pieces of timber, ragged fabric, and discarded personal items—each inherently carrying the heavy weight of time and its own quiet narrative. Inspired deeply by The Art of Memory, which illustrates how spaces structure human recollection, we allowed spatial shape to emerge directly from the raw arrangement of material rather than imposing planned abstraction. We sought crucial atmospheric clues from these sculptural elements, studying their scale, texture, and inherent imperfections. By physically composing these varied elements, we applied a distinct methodology that intricately merges curatorial sensitivity with rigorous spatial design. Thus, the resulting "building" was not a static object to be drafted, but an organically evolving assemblage of memory-charged pieces, slowly taking the definitive shape of a place.
We view memory and absence as inherently inseparable; absence is truly where memory gathers its profound strength. Here, absence is not a void to fill, but a spatial condition to form. Architecture simply provides the defining boundary—a wall, shadow, or threshold—allowing remaining traces, profound silences, and lingering fragments to stay vividly alive.
