Studio Moby Dick, led by architect Mariana Rasslan, signs a 72m² apartment in São Paulo, located in the Vila Mariana neighborhood, for a family consisting of a young couple who love to travel. “They found out about our work through social networks and from the beginning, they asked us for a project that would integrate the environments and bring clarity to the rooms” comments the architect.

The special request for the kitchen was the island, where the office also placed the wine cellar, which is protected from light and is camouflaged by the joinery. The choice of colors was also guided by the feeling of lightness that customers asked for: mint green, light wood, gray and white. The small table on the veranda, on the other hand, was designed for moments of rest and contemplation, where the couple could receive friends or sit down to have a wine at the end of the day.

The office demolished the glass door that separated the terrace and integrated it into the TV room. He also created the kitchen island and remodeled the small entrance hall to fit a cloakroom. The remainder of the original plan has been maintained. “We created a large integrated living room, which houses: kitchen, TV room, dining room and terrace. In the intimate area we have the office that is also a guest room and the master suite. The service area is an annex to the kitchen,” explains architect Mariana Rasslan.

In the social area, the architect followed a light color palette and marked the space between the TV room and the kitchen, with the island that also serves as a storage space. The dining table seats 6 people and is located in the living room of the apartment. There is also space for quicker meals and appetizers on the apartment's balcony, which has been integrated into the TV room.
In the intimate area, the master suite received a small office bench, just for support in case of need, as the second bedroom, in addition to being an office, also functions as a guest room.

The office opted for Nord Ris porcelain tiles by Portobello, throughout the social area of the apartment. In the rooms, on the vinyl floor, in the “fishbone” layout. For the countertops in the kitchen, island and laundry room, the choice was white quartz, and for the countertops in the master bath and guest bathroom, the same porcelain tile as the walls was used.
In partnership with the client, who already had a clear notion, after all the conversations between the architect and the couple, of the items she most wanted to highlight, the architect opted for pieces with brighter colors, to contrast the neutral background that predominated throughout the project. The colorful carpet by Koord, in the TV room, was the starting point for choosing the chairs for the dining table in the shade “Guava”, by Cremme. “We took that same tone to the suite, where we placed the trousseau tapestry in the same tone” concludes the professional.
