Apartment with color

When I started this project I wasn't looking up to a certain design style, I wanted to represent client's life values and uniqueness. My client was a young family with 2 kids of 3 and 5 years of age. The main wish of the client was to create the feeling of comfort for every member of the family.

The apartment is located in recently built house in Minsk. At first, the apartment layout wasn't divided by any walls, except the ones used to separate two bathrooms. One of the bathroom was located right in the center of the apartment so I needed to take into account specifics of plumbing system. As a result we have the apartment separated into two zones: one with a wardrobe and bathroom for the parents, and one with a bedroom and playroom for the kids.

When I start a new project I don't have any rules for selection of furniture and materials. It depends on a customer's wish, their budget, preferences and lifestyle. I like to mix products of European brands and local Belarusian professionals. I like every detail of this project, but the Vistosi chandelier mounted above the dining table is my favorite. I fell in love with it when it was released at market and had been waiting for many years to find the project where it would fit.

The most difficult part was the window in the living room. Its width was 4.5 meters and there wasn't room to set curtains. So I decided to  create a wooden portal, paint it black and cover radiators under the window. And of course put a black Christian Lacroix wallpaper around it. Vivid ornament of the wallpaper became the color base for the interior. Wooden materials and acrylic paint along with the wallpaper are the main materials of the project that perfectly describe clients way of life.

Let's move on to the kitchen. At first I wanted to combine a wall in the kitchen with a cabinet. I wanted to fill this space with a mosaic of Spanish brand Dune . At first it was looking great, but when we started working with the wall joints it started to lose its color. With help of the client we kept trying various materials, mixing colors to find out that there is nothing better than a solid white color of the paint that led us to the final result.
