A 12,000 sq. ft. Design & Build workplace for a global infrastructure and sustainability consultancy, designed around a human-centric planning philosophy, activity-based workstyle support, and the spatial expression of a unified organisational identity.
The brief asked the design to resolve a specific tension: a satellite office for a globally significant organisation that needed to feel connected to that identity without imposing a corporate template. The organising principle is consistent across every planning decision: flexibility, autonomy, and human-scale spatial experience as the primary drivers at every planning level.
The reception establishes a calm, professional threshold through warm timber panelling, clean lines, and a composed material palette that signals approachability without sacrificing seriousness. An arrival breakout zone is positioned immediately beyond the threshold - relaxed seating and visually activated surfaces create a designed social pause point that integrates informal exchange into the natural movement of arrival rather than requiring deliberate detour.
The workhall forms the functional core of the plan, equipped with height-adjustable workstations throughout and planned to maximise natural light penetration across the floor. The layout sustains an open quality without sacrificing the ability to find acoustic and visual privacy within the same zone - a planning response to the recognition that focus and openness are sequential rather than competing needs for most knowledge workers.
Meeting infrastructure is differentiated by programme. The 8-person meeting room is acoustically balanced for focused discussion. The boardroom is specified with a globally aligned design sensibility - refined materiality and precise detailing - appropriate for leadership dialogue and external client engagement.
Across the workplace, warm material specification, consistent natural light, and intuitive spatial sequencing work in combination to produce an environment that feels complete and considered at its actual scale. The design does not compensate for the building's modest footprint; it works within it, producing a workplace where spatial quality is achieved through planning intelligence rather than area.
