Auro Sharnam is a contemporary mixed-use development in Vadodara, Gujarat, conceived as a vertical community where commercial activity, luxury residential living and shared recreational spaces are integrated within a unified architectural framework. The project responds to its urban setting by creating an active public edge along the main road while establishing a quieter, inward-looking residential environment above.
The planning follows a clear vertical hierarchy. Commercial spaces occupy the lower levels, where large glazed shopfronts create transparency, visibility and a continuous connection with the street. The podium is treated as an integral part of the overall composition rather than as a separate base, allowing the transition between retail and residential functions to remain visually cohesive. Landscape, pedestrian movement and defined entrance zones soften the street frontage and contribute to a more welcoming public interface.
Above the podium, the residential development rises as a series of interconnected wings organized around a central landscaped courtyard. This arrangement creates privacy for residents while allowing apartments to benefit from generous balconies, natural light, outward views and a strong visual relationship with the communal spaces below.
The architectural expression is defined by continuous horizontal balcony bands that wrap around the façades and soften at the corners. These projecting elements create depth, shade and a consistent rhythm across the towers. Light-toned balcony edges are contrasted with deeper grey wall surfaces, while warm wood-textured soffits and selected accent elements introduce warmth to the restrained material palette. Glass railings maintain visual lightness, and darker vertical screens provide contrast, privacy and a counterpoint to the horizontal composition.
At the heart of the development, an elevated amenity court transforms the roof of the commercial podium into a shared landscape for residents. A swimming pool, landscaped lawns, seating areas, children’s play spaces and community zones create a recreational environment protected from the activity of the street. A curved pavilion with a transparent façade introduces a softer architectural form and strengthens the connection between indoor communal functions and the surrounding landscape.
Greenery is integrated throughout the project, from the arrival and street edge to balcony planters and the central amenity deck. Beyond its visual role, planting helps soften the scale of the development and creates more comfortable transitions between built and open spaces.
