For Bar Mercado, bright colors and bold patterns are layered over an existing industrial backdrop of old brick, steel, and concrete, creating a harmonious cacophony and evoking the excitement of a Spanish market. Colorful details throughout the space echo the vibrant menu of tapas and craft drinks. The bar area is embellished with warm tones of pink, red, and gold, reflecting the glow of classic Spanish wines and cocktails. A series of oversized capiz shell globe pendants boldly hover overhead, beneath the deep blue of a starry night, and bring the ceiling plane down while casting a warm glow throughout. Custom drapery panels frame a welded steel and glass cabinet of curiosities on one end, and a view of neighboring industrial buildings at the other. Continuing the feeling outdoors, a new weathering steel barrel vaulted canopy covers the patio dining area, with red and orange neon ambling along the steel structure towards the restaurant entry.
