The new cycling track at Huda Luknja follows an old railway line. The original railway between Velenje and Gornja Radgona was part of the Levantine Railway, opened in 1891 during the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and abandoned in 1968.
The route is approximately 24 km long and follows the alignment of the Mislinja Valley, which was shaped by the Paka River. It makes use of the former railway corridor, including several historic tunnels.
The design of the five new bridges follows the original concept of linear railway engineering. Steel beams span distances of up to 31 meters, creating exciting and dramatic views for cyclists while revealing the history of the former track once used by the mines of the Šaleška dolina region.
