COX Architecture and Hassell have been awarded the design contract for the new Brisbane Olympic Stadium, the principal venue for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Located within Victoria Park, the stadium is conceived as a civic and cultural landmark that extends beyond its Games-time function to deliver a long-term legacy for the city of Brisbane and the wider Queensland community.

The brief called for a world-class stadium capable of hosting major international sporting events, while also operating as a fl exible, year-round venue for community, cultural and recreational use. A key ambition was to embed the stadium within the parkland setting, enhancing connectivity, accessibility and public amenity, rather than functioning as a standalone object. It will have a critical role in 2032 but its life after the Games will be its most important legacy for the community.

The design is informed by COX and Hassell’s extensive experience delivering major sporting infrastructure, supported by international collaborators Azusa Sekkei, with Arup and sbp leading engineering and roof design. Blaklash, an Indigenous-owned consultancy, is guiding meaningful and ongoing First Nations engagement throughout the project, ensuring the stadium refl ects cultural respect and connection to Country.
