We collaborated with BIA Interiors to turn this Brooklyn Heights apartment into a beautiful, functional space for our clients. The home sits in the Brooklyn Heights Historic District, and our clients were committed to preserving its historic character inside and out. We paid close attention to historic details, including the 11 windows that span across the building’s three exposures.

Our clients wanted to maximize storage space in the 1800 ft2 apartment without sacrificing beauty or living space. To meet this goal, we designed custom millwork built-ins to each space, from seating areas to shelves to closets. The millwork defines separate spaces in the open floor plan great room, which contains the kitchen, living room, dining room, and a home office space.

Throughout the interior spaces, a cool, light color palette allows rich textures to shine. A wood burning fireplace with a Carrera marble mantle is reminiscent of classic Brooklyn brownstones. The clean kitchen became a home base for the family’s daily activities, with plenty of storage, elegant details, and a chalkboard-paneled fridge and freezer. Off the kitchen, a private outdoor terrace is a perfect space for living and entertaining.
