Studio Eivind has unveiled a striking new boutique for David Morris, the London jewellers, at the legendary Hotel Cala di Volpe in Sardinia. This marks the continuation of a creative partnership that began with the brand’s first Middle Eastern project in Kuwait and has since expanded to include ten international retail spaces.
The Cala di Volpe pop-up encapsulates David Morris’s refined glamour within the relaxed luxury of one of Italy’s most iconic hotels. Known for its seasonal exclusivity, the boutique opens each summer, offering a unique destination for the hotel’s clients and guests. This year’s redesign presented the opportunity to reimagine the space from the ground up, giving the British jeweller a distinct visual presence within the hotel’s celebrated architecture.
The seasonal boutique sits prominently beside the hotel’s central lobby, where guests, including David and Suzette Morris, who frequent the hotel each summer can encounter a new facet of the brand’s legacy.
Studio Eivind’s Keith Fowler comments; “I approached the redesign as a total reinvention, an opportunity to craft a timeless expression and new spirit of David Morris’s identity within a space that celebrates craftsmanship, artistry, and the enduring echo of the Mediterranean.
Studio Eivind, founded by Keith Fowler is known for crafting layered, narrativedriven interiors. Collaborating closely with Brand and Retail Director, Cecily Morris, granddaughter of founder David Morris, on the concept, the store’s design draws from the hotel’s architectural details and cultural references.
Five of artist Petra Börner’s playful, Cocteau and Picasso inspired Women of the Hotel illustrations, reinterpretations of her earlier Bathers series, were transformed into carved murals, applied wall graphics, embroidered textiles, and lighting elements. This dialogue between art and craft defines the space, blending the whimsical with the sculptural.
The boutique’s palette reflects the whitewashed tones and terracotta floors of Cala di Volpe’s lobby, creating a seamless link between architecture and brand identity. Bespoke furniture, designed by French designer Emma Donnersberg and British emerging name, Max McClintock anchor the interior alongside select mid-centuryinspired and vintage pieces.
Custom-made consultation desks by Max McClintock, handcrafted in London and in collaboration with Studio Eivind, feature stone inlay and brass detailing in fine nero portoro marble, while elegant yet irregular chairs by French designer Emma Donnersberg complete the composition. Table lamps incorporating Petra Börner’s art were made by Vikram Goyal Studio to add a sculptural warmth, merging artisanal texture with contemporary refinement.
Cecily Morris says “Studio Eivind has captured the spirit of David Morris with extraordinary sensitivity. The Cala di Volpe boutique feels both playful and refined, a reflection of the hotel’s effortless Mediterranean charm and our brand’s dedication to craftsmanship and beauty. Keith and his team have created a space that truly feels alive with art, texture, and storytelling.”
