The house emerges as a clear gesture within the residential fabric of Olot. An L-shaped geometry organizes the plot and creates an inward-looking garden, open to the south, which becomes the center of domestic life while protecting the home from its immediate surroundings.
The ground floor is defined by the dialogue between solid and void. Solid and restrained stone volumes support the large concrete plane that establishes the horizon of the house, while the space between them is released and transformed into light, air, and transparency. The kitchen, dining room, and living area open fully onto the garden, blurring the boundary between interior and exterior.
Above the L-shaped slab, a lighter volume accommodates the private spaces. This upper box, protected by wooden shutters, is perceived as an abstract piece that filters light and views, reinforcing the contrast between solidity and lightness.
The project is organized on three levels. The basement, illuminated through courtyards, becomes a livable and intimate space, while a vertical patio runs through the house, connecting the levels and bringing light, air, and vegetation into its interior.
The materiality—stone, lime mortar, and wood—shapes a contemporary, rooted, and precise architecture, where spatial quality, environmental comfort, and nature are part of a single gesture.
