Inside a narrow residential cluster in one of the most prestigeous areas of Zapopan, Jalisco, House JM is found. A residence designed for a young family, where the principal aim was to keep an open concept in every space, having views without compromising the family’s privacy. 

With this in mind, the project take a C shape, generating views towards the center of the house. The external facades provide intimacy and privacy. The interior and exterior are complementary, since there is no need to generate opnenings to look outside, the volumes can remain clean, clear and monolitic. The materials have a relationship between them that reflects the monocromatic palette seeked by the light color of the pigmented concrete and the brick cladding.

The central patio becomes the heart of the house. It integrates the house when it’s completely open, and separates interior and exterior when it’s completely shut, generating spontaneous encounters between people and architecture. This space speaks about the transitions, the contemplation and the framing towards the center of the house that each inner room has. 

The need to unify and at the same time separate our entrance from the general entrance of the complex led us to the idea to merge the existing stone covered wall with one of our own, which goes down to the basement floor, creating a double-height patio next to the principal salon and bar. This space showcases the afinity of the owner for hunting.

The homogenous and unifying expression of the house stablishes a dialogue with the interior patios, exposing each space to the best views and sunlight, leaving aside the confusing and loud enviroment of the city.
