Casa O

The house is located in Ognina Li Greci, a coastal resort located a few kilometers away from Siracusa, Sicily.

On the lot there are two buildings, a main house and an annexe.

The structure of the dependence, following the 1990 earthquake events that affected South East Sicily, was severely damaged and so it was decided to demolish it to build a new one.

Placement on the lot and alignment with the main building have defined an outer space, a batch of lots between the two buildings, where the living area of the main house is linked through the openings.

Hence the idea for the new dependence of a single large opening-entry that, appropriately, thanks to its large dimension, establishes or denies the relationship with the outer space and with the main body.

The plant organizes the small spaces of the small home (less than 40 square meters of useful space), so as to favor openings on the opposite side and ensure mutual privacy.

The west elevation, featured by a pronounced projection, is lined with strip wood in larch. The stripes of the facade and the stripes of darkening frame make a single façade system marking a clear hierarchy of sides.

The west facing outline, featured by a pronounced slate, is lined with wood with larch shingles and is a single façade system with dark openings marking a clear hierarchy of prospects.
