L’Interno dell’Esterno dell’Interno -Casa Paoli

Studio x Architettura as Architects

Working with Spazio, Luce and Materia in the Restructuring Project of the building owned by Signora Zita Paoli, in Trentino, in the Historic Center of Pergine Valsugana, with a new volume in the building. I wanted to bring in the blue of the sky and to partly innervate the building from the road to the sky. A sensor element that captures light and distributes it in the various planes. Come a tree inside the building, instead of the branches there are the ramps of the stairs, which wrap themselves and wind their way sinuously.

An experience that is always new, starting from the staircase that leads, inside the earth, to the entire floor of the bar on the ground floor, up to the last inverted wooden staircase in the attic, in a symbolic and geometric situation in a continuous space without interruption of continuity inside the building, from the road to the sky. The use of light diagrams in the design phase is a tool for managing costs and spaces. A volumetric redistribution on the back side makes it possible to derive a theory of terronature facing upwards.

Now, on the street front, a ground floor, two open and covered porches welcome you as a guest of the bar and the shop, holding inside the outside. On the ground floor, the Bar, with trimmed iron and sawn-cut oak furnishings, which looks ahead, is visually connected to the public space through an iron and glass porthole that connects it to the atrium. The Bar is crossed in the central part by a geometric and visual axis, in a parenthesis of the staircase, with the street in a continuity solution from the reduced section of the iron windows. Here starts the energy, it is released and a place between street and interior, between below and above, between earth and sky, rich in meaning.

The poetics of the intervention continuously recounts the dialectic between new and ancient through the use of materials, the sense of time and space is continuously scanned.

The rear rear façade in stone and lime is partially covered with treated iron that forms the new skin to create frames and walkways. We wanted to give strength to the idea of time as a new and old stratification and co-presence, keeping them distinct.

Both here and in the scale, a real element of elevation not only physical but also spiritual, both in the entire building the Space is Translated from Matter.

We have chosen subjects that tell and make it possible to read the origin; Mother Matter have the same root.

We have tried to build through wood, iron and cement, archetypical places that tell about space and time, places where you feel at home, you live, you feel in the world.

Materila Used:

1. Cement

2. Iron

3. Wood
